Greig Holbook, founder of Oban International, will be hosting a panel discussion entitled ‘Fashion in Russia and Emerging Europe’ at Fashion without Borders, the online marketplace conference in London on Wednesday 23rd March.
This year’s event is expected to attract delegates from Amazon, eBay and Flipkart, as well as other leading companies looking to gain insights into the latest e-commerce trends around the globe.
Greig will be leading a discussion with representatives from three marketplaces in Poland, Russia and Ukraine – Ozon.ru, Allegro.pl and ModnaKasta.ua. He will be asking them about the trends that British retailers should be considering in their countries and getting them to share insights on the opportunities and challenges of operating in their markets.
“Marketplaces can be a lower risk, efficient way for retailers to launch into a new country before they commit to a direct e-commerce presence. I’m really looking forward to hosting this session and hearing about three countries in Eastern Europe which can often be overlooked in favour of the Far East,” he explains.
Greig has worked with a number of fashion retailers, including Etsy, UGG, Neiman-Marcus, De Beers, Mulberry and Shop Direct, and notes that it’s the companies who consider local knowledge and cultural insights which benefit most in emerging markets: “The most successful online marketing strategies always put local insight first; understanding this is key for fashion retailers looking to succeed and sell online.”
The event also includes talks on cross-border trade, insights into the shipping preferences of global consumers, language localisation trends, as well as a series of ‘Meet the Marketplace’ sessions that concentrate on specific geographic regions.
Other thought leaders speaking at the event include, Inès Hammami of French marketplace Primeminster; Conrad Bain of Trade Me; and Laurence Guy, CEO of Pentagon, organisers of the event and international marketplace specialists.
Fashion without Borders is a FREE to attend one-day conference taking place on Wednesday March 23rd at the QEII Conference Centre, London.
