I started off in Web Development, Training and IT Support and found more and more of my time being focused on SEO related work. Having gone agency side about eight years ago I could see an increase in clients interested in International Marketing as they were seeking to expand to international markets. I found this element of SEO work incredibly interesting so I moved to Oban International two years ago to focus on International SEO.
I love working with different language sites and search engines, particularly Baidu and Yandex. I also enjoy helping clients get their sites technically correct and seeing visibility in the search engines increase as a result. We conduct a lot of technical audits and ad-hoc technical support to help keep clients up to date both in terms of changes to the search engines but also to ensure their websites are technically correct for each market.
Getting websites fit for international markets, particularly getting sites set up for China where the rules are quite disparate. Matching the needs of websites to alternative search engines and the needs of each. A lot of clients have issues with Hreflang tags and the implementation of these, it can be challenging to come up with solutions which meet the needs of each client and their technical set up.
