Spotlight: Rafael Ribeiro, Global Data Analyst

I am Rafa and I am Oban International’s Information Analyst and Designer. I am in charge of number crunching and visualising data.

  • How and when did you start working in international digital marketing?
I was working as a customer services representative in an insurance company for four years and was looking for an opportunitiy in digital marketing. I stumbled across a job ad for Oban. It seemed like a great opportunity as I was working towards getting a BA in Media Studies, gaining hands-on experience in web design, photography and filming. Since joining in 2008, I have had a multitude of roles in the company from Researcher to Project Manager but am currently concentrating in data analysis and design. Being a chameleon has always helped my role to be interesting and challenging, which in turn keeps me motivated.
  • What do you enjoy about it?
The people. Oban has this unexplainable force that tends to attract a multitude of good people.
  • What are the biggest challenges you face?
As a data analyst it is all about learning to code, and not only in one but several programming languages. This is by far the biggest challenge I have.
  • What would you be doing if you didn’t have a career in international digital marketing?
I would be working in animation.
  • What countries have you visited? Which is your favourite and why?
I have been to Germany, France, Italy, Brazil, and Scotland. I loved Germany’s efficiency and their attitude towards recycling. I also love their food. But France is the winner for me, it is warmer and has splendid food and wine.
  • Outside of work hours, you’ll find me…
Adventure gaming, watching movies, producing animations, testing motion capture, writing stories and scripts.
